Mr. Allen was born in Los Angeles, CA and was a resident of New Orleans, LA for thirteen years and a resident of Ocean Springs for nine years. He is a retired US Navy Veteran who served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Ocean Springs. He retired from C Cubed Communications Engineers in Pascagoula.
Mr. Allen is preceded in death by his wife, Rocio Allen and a son, Lawrence Allen.
Survivors include his daughter, Catherine Allen; three grandchildren, Nicholas Wimett, Lawrence Allen, II. and Savannah Allen.
Visitation was on Sunday, July 4, 2010 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home.
Elvin Andrew Asher, age 90, of Ocean Springs, MS died Sunday, June 27, 2010 in Ocean Springs.
Mr. Asher was a native of Mississippi City and spent all his life on the Coast. He served as a MSgt. in the Infantry during WWII and later was employed with L&N Railroad/CSX Transportation, where he retired after 43 years. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Helena Lind Asher; sons, Elvin Asher, Jr. and Michael Asher; parents, Andrew T. and Corinne Ladner Asher; sisters, Edna Hill and Isabelle Jolly.
Survivors include his daughters, Gaylynn (Clarence) Parker of Escatawpa, MS., Jacquelyn (Henry) Endt of Ocean Springs, MS., Carolyn Ross of Mobile, AL., and Mary Lynn (David) Whitney of Vancleave, MS.; son, Timothy (Becky) Asher of Slidell, LA. sister, Catherine Mazarakis of Bay St. Louis, MS.; eighteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Tuesday, June 29, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe. On Wednesday, June 30, 2010 there was a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church where friends visited one hour prior. Interment followed at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to one's favorite charity. On Monday, July 5, 2010 there was a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Ocean Springs at 11:00 a.m. Friends visited from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Burial with full military honors will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
Robert "Bobby" Lee Hankins, Sr., 63, of Ocean Springs, MS died on Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Mr. Hankins was a lifelong resident of Biloxi. He was a plumber for Biloxi Plumbing and avid NASCAR fan and pool player. Mr. Hankins was also a wonderful cook.
He is preceded in death by his father, Simmie R. Hankins.
Mr. Hankins is survived by his mother, Vada Hankins; daughters, Melissa Ferrill and Melinda Blethen; sons, Robert, Jr., Josh, Jacob and Justin Hankins; sisters, Frances Wescovich, Suzanne Kasovich, Dianne Bolin, Rebecca Slade and Ree Nell Hankins; brothers, Steve, Sr., John Mark and James Micah Hankins; eleven grandchildren and longtime companion, Linda Scott.
Visitation was Friday, July 2, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Funeral services were Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Both will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Biloxi. Interment followed in Biloxi City Cemetery.
Tom Thuan Nguyen, age 72, of Ocean Springs, MS died Sunday, June 27, 2010.
Mr. Nguyen was a resident of the Coast for thirty-five years and was a member of Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Phin Bui; four daughters, Thuan Thi Nguyen of Ocean Springs, MS., Thumai Kim Upton and Kim Tuyet Ortiz both of Dallas, TX., Nhung Kay Klingensmith of Detroit MI; one son, Cay Van Nguyen of San Jose, CA; thirteen grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Thursday, July 1, 2010 and Friday, July 2, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Saturday, July 3, 2010 a 9:40 a.m. procession will leave the funeral home for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. Burial followed in Crestlawn Memorial Park.
Loree’ Virginia Fondern Jones Myers, 92 of Ocean Springs passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Ocean Springs Nursing Center. She was born on July 20, 1918.
She formerly worked at Ingalls Shipyard during the War and later worked at Gryder’s Shoe Store.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanford S. Fondren and Ophelia Humphreys Fondren and her sister, Hilda Fondren.
Mrs. Myers is survived by her loving husband of 15 years, Rufus B. Myers of Ocean Springs; her son, Richard (Gemma) Jones; stepdaughters, Beth (Ed) Crump and Lois (Jerry) Smith; grandchildren, Kerry (Sena) Jones of Gautier, Christopher (Melissa) Jones of Pascagoula, Mark ( Amanda ) Dehertogh of Dallas, TX, Lori Beth (Charles) Radcliff of North Carolina, Alexander Relleve and Mary Antoinette Relleve of the Philippines. She is also survived by her step grandchildren, Bruce Crump, Barry (Kristy) Crump, James Crump, Krystle (Mike) Taylor, Jennifer Smith and Craig (Jennifer) Smith; 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as close friend and relative, Thelma Fondren throughout the years.
The family would like to extend many thanks to the staff at the Ocean Springs Nursing Center and Odyssey Health Care for their care and concern.
Visitation for Mrs. Myers was held Friday, July 2, 2010 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pierre’s Episcopal Church in Gautier. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. with Father Hunter Isaacs officiating. Interment followed in Biloxi National Cemetery.

Bobby Lee Dawkins, age 85, currently of Mobile, AL. formerly a longtime resident of Ocean Springs, died Sunday, July 4, 2010, in Mobile.
Mr. Dawkins was born on February 1, 1925, in Salem, Alabama to Walter Scott and Carrie Mae Dawkins. He retired from Georgia Power Company with 42 years of service. Mr. Dawkins was also a Master Mason and member of the Joppa Shrine. He was a avid gardner and loved flowers, was a loving and faithful husband, a giving father, and a man of his word. He touched many lives with his "happy" personality. In 2007, Mr. Dawkins moved to Mobile; but, his heart remained in Ocean Springs.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley E. Dawkins; daughter, Kay Dawkins-Carvin; son-in-law, Joseph R. Carvin, Jr.; two nieces; two nephews, and two extended loved ones, Karen Carvin Ledkins and Raymond Daniel Ledkins.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Ocean Springs. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home of Ocean Springs is in charge of arrangements.
