She was born in Walker, LA, became a military wife and traveled extensively, eventually settling in Ocean Springs, MS. Throughout her life she was an avid fisherman, enjoyed boating and time with friends. She served her community through the International Lions Club (Lioness') and the American Red Cross both locally and during her years overseas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Owen Green Allen, her parents, Robert Methvien and Evelyn Brown Methvien, and sister Wilhelmina Methvien Hinton.
Mrs. Allen is survived by her children Owen Robert Allen (Martha) of Slidell, LA, Francis Sue Allen White (John) of Ocean Springs, MS; sisters, Margie Methvien Campbell (J.D.) of Sibley, LA, Lavenia Methvien Fairchild (Darson) of Maurepas, LA; brothers Robert Methvien (Dottie) and Louis Methvien (Darline) both of Colyell, LA. She was also the proud "Maw Maw" of 5 grandchildren; Mike Allen (Laurie), Amber Allen Walsten (Will), Kathy White Lantrip (Jim), Owen White, and Jennie White Gables (Ken), nine great-grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
Visitation was on Friday, June 25, 2010, from 6 pm until 8 pm, at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Saturday, June 26, 2010, there was a 10 am church service at St. Paul UMC Downtown Campus. Burial followed in Crestlawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Lottie Brodnax Lynd, age 100, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Monday, June 21, 2010, in Ocean Springs.
Mrs. Lynd was born in Bastrop, LA., lived on the coast most of her life, and had lived in Ocean Springs since 1941. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend and a compassionate person whose family was the joy of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Ocean Springs.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Ernest Lynd, parents, Newton Brodnax, Clara Brodnax-Hall and stepfather, Robert M. Hall, six brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Lynd's memory will be cherished by a daughter, Louise (Pat) Murphy, son, Gerald E. Lynd, five grandchildren, Tom (Bonnie) Murphy, Jim (Deborah) Murphy, Dan (Janice) Murphy, and Kathleen and Jenny Lynd, three great-grandsons, Patrick (Jamie) Murphy, and Sean and Kyle Murphy, great-great-grandson, Owen Patrick Murphy, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was on Thursday, June 24, 2010, from 10 am until 11 am, with an 11 am chapel service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. Burial followed in Biloxi City Cemetery.
Mrs. Ginger Schreffler Mitchell, age 65, a resident of Gautier, MS., died Wednesday, June 23, 2010, in Ocean Springs.
Ginger was born in Houston, TX., on February 23, 1945. She was a 1963 graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Biloxi, and a 1966 graduate of Providence School of Nursing in Mobile, AL. She was a retired registered nurse of 33 years and a dedicated volunteer of the St. Vincent DePaul Community Pharmacy for over 10 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Major John M. Schreffler and Lois Schreffler.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Robert "Bob" Mitchell of Gautier, son, John M. Mitchell of Lobelville, TN., daughter, Michelle Anna Mitchell Mayeaux and husband Dr. E.J. Mayeaux of Haughton, LA., son, Oscar Sean Mitchell "Buzz" of Gautier, a grandson, Brady Sean Mitchell of Huntsville, AL., one step-grandson, Jason Mayeaux of Haughton, LA., mother-in-law, Anna J. Mitchell of Ocean Springs, many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and close friends along the Gulf Coast and Southeast areas. She has two friends that were like sisters and stood beside her throughout her life; Dee Lance of Covington, LA. and Diane Henderson of Long Beach, MS.
Husband Bob Mitchell and the immediate family would like to express their great appreciation for all of the prayers, support and encouragement from family and friends throughout Ginger's illness. May God bless everyone and you will always hold a special place in our hearts and prayers.

Mary M. Wade, died on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at the age of 100.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Wade, her parents, James L. Mooney and Julia A. O'Neill Mooney; four brothers, Frank (Marge), James (Jeanne), William (Rosemary) and Phil (Mary) and one sister, Julia A. Mooney.
Born and raised in Chicago, Mary had a lifelong association with the Gulf Coast where she spent her first year of school at St. Alphonsus Catholic School while her parents were snow-birding in Ocean Springs, MS.
While in Chicago, Mary worked as a Bank Teller and as a Receptionist for a Doctor's practice and was employed by the Chicago Board of Education for over 35 years. After she retired, Mary moved to Ocean Springs where she has lived for the past 30+ years. During that time, Mary spent 10 years volunteering as a "Pink Lady" at the Ocean Springs Hospital.
Mary is survived by two nephews, James Mooney (Doris) and Phillip Mooney; one niece, Mary Mooney Lesch (John), as well as several great nieces and nephews. Mary gave special mention to Myrtle Waltman, her companion, dear friend and caregiver for the past two decades.
The celebration Memorial Mass will be on Monday, June 28, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. Private interment will be at the family mausoleum in Chicago, IL.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Elizabeth Seton Building Fund.
To all who knew Mary, her elegance, charm, inerring sense of style and sparkling blue eyes were hallmarks of this wonderful woman who will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Leona J. Vaughan, age 86, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2010.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, William E. Vaughan, Sr. in 2002; her parents, Wallace Jakins and Adele Catchot VanCourt; brothers, George Jakins, Bud Jakins; sisters, Laura Dubuisson, Alice Tanner and Marie Mathieu.
Leona is survived by her children, William E. Vaughan, Jr.(Brenda), Rebecca Edwards (Larry), and John Ray Vaughan (Ellen); grandchildren, Christine Buchanan (Lee), Ty Edwards (Arlene), Kenny Vaughan (Donna), Susie Ramsay (Scott), Courtney West (Dave), Tricia Capers (Lavon) and Melanie Fulton (Brian); great-grandchildren, Jenny (Logan), Holly, Matt, Sarah, Kyle, David and Jenna; brothers, Ernest "Buddy" Jakins (Jean) of Ocean Springs, MS; sister, Janice Byrd (Larry) of Horn Lake, MS; many cousins, nieces, nephews and a special cousin, Ethel Cates of Ocean Springs, MS.
Funeral Services were on Monday, June 28, 2010 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. where friends visited one hour prior to service. Burial followed at Biloxi National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 502 Jackson Avenue, Ocean Springs, MS 39564.
