Gilda Ervin Saunders, age 65, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi., died Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at Settler's Point Personal Care Home, in Ocean Springs.

Gilda was born, April 17, 1945, in Cleveland, Mississippi, to the late Viola C. and Fred H. Ervin. She graduated from Cleveland High School, in June, 1963. She attended Delta State University, Cleveland, Mississsippi, where she earned an undergraduate degree in History and a Master's in History. She met her husband, Tommy, in 1960, and they were married on June 7, 1969. They moved to Ocean Springs on August 17, 1969, experiencing their first hurricane. . .Camille!

Gilda began her successful teaching career at Mississippi Delta Community College, in Moorhead, Mississippi. She taught in the Ocean Springs School System, Jackson County School System, Harrison County School System, Gulfport Job Corps Center, West Bolivar County School System, Notre Dame High School, Biloxi, Mississippi, and Delta State University. Gilda retired in 2002, after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease and Parkinson's Disease.

Gilda was very active in the lives of her children and grandchildren as well as her church, St. Paul United Methodist Church, Ocean Springs, Mississippi. She sang in the Chancel Choir, taught Sunday School, worked as a youth counselor and was active in the local and state United Methodist Womens' Organization.

She enjoyed entertaining family and friends and loved to cook, make specialty cakes, sew, shop, travel and read. She was loved by many and will be missed.

Gilda is survived by her husband of 41 years, Tommy, daughters, Lisa S. Riviere, both of Ocean Springs, Katherine S. (Lewis) Trott of Fayetteville, NC, grandchildren, Mark Austin Riviere, Emily Claire Riviere, both of Ocean Springs, Natalie Trott, Lauren (Dana) Bodzak, Leslie Trott, Annalee Gilda Trott, and Lucy Jo Trott, all of Fayetteville, NC, great-grandchildren, Lorelei and Addison Bodzak of Fort Meade, MD, sisters, Charlotte E. (Earl) Mosley and Mollie Lou Ervin, brother, Fred H. (Mary Jane), Ervin, all of Cleveland, MS., and mother-in-law, Trula P. Tucker of Brentwood, Tennessee.

A sincere thanks to Margie Kellum and her wonderful staff at Settler's Point for their loving care. Also, thanks to Eternity Hospice and their caring staff as well.

Visitation was on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, from 10 am until 12 Noon, with a 12 Noon Memorial Service, all at St. Paul United Methodist Church Downtown in Ocean Springs.

Ms. Rose Joyce Bethel, age 79, of Ocean Springs, MS., passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2010, in Ocean Springs.

She was born in Detroit, Michigan, and lived on the Gulf Coast since 1964. She was a retired US Air Force wife and a Civil Service cook, who enjoyed boating, scuba diving, fishing and traveled extensively. She also enjoyed coast casinos with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thurman and Mary Holladay, brother, Fred Holladay, sister, Edna Cole, son-in-law, James Plutino and granddaughter, Miranda Bethel.

Rose was a loving mother to her children and is survived by three daughters, Dell Bethel of Foley, AL., Denise Bethel of Birmingham, AL., and Donna Plutino of Biloxi, MS., a son, Charlie Bethel, also of Biloxi, MS., and a brother, Thurman Holladay of Dearborn, Michigan.

On Saturday, June 5, 2010, family and friends were invited to gather from 6 pm until 7 pm at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe to share stories of Roses' life.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be sent to the American Heart Association, Greater Southeast Affiliate, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX., 75284-0692.

Mrs. Rose Marie Blanchard, 73, of Ocean Springs, MS, died Thursday, June 3, 2010, in Ocean Springs.

Mrs. Blanchard was born in Biloxi and remained a lifelong resident of the coast. She enjoyed riding the city buses and her three wheel bike. She was loved by all who knew her and she never met a stranger. She had been a resident of Ocean Springs Nursing Center for the past four years.

Mrs. Blanchard was preceded in death by her parents, John Blanchard and Ola Weems Kelly. She is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2010, at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs where friends may visit one hour before service time. Interment followed in Crestlawn Memorial Park.

Mr. Charles Paul Hosey, age 51, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Monday, May 31, 2010, in Pascagoula, MS.

Mr. Hosey was employed by Equity Lifestyle Investments as a Training Manager. He loved his family and friends, music, computers, and most of all his cats and dog, Madison. His favorite quote was " Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William B. and Martha Register, paternal grandparents, Stoney Lee and Elsie Hosey, sister, Kathy Diane Hosey and uncle, John Paul (Cash) Register.

Survivors include his wife, Kelly Marie Hosey, two sons, Ryan Filibeck and Aaron Hosey, mother, Ginger Glydewell and stepfather, Larry, two sisters, Martha "Beth" (Jim) Burdeshaw-Pace and Jennifer (Harry) Picco, four brothers, William Lee (Nathalie) Hosey, John (Dawn) Hosey, Buddy Hosey, and Jason Hosey, and two step-brothers, Joseph Glydewell and Patrick Glydewell.

Visitation was on Thursday, June 3, 2010, from 6 pm ~ 8 pm, at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Friday, June 4, 2010, there was a 10 am chapel service in the funeral home. Burial followed in Biloxi

National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, June 7, 2010.

Mr. Joseph Williams, Jr., age 83, of Ocean Springs, MS., passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2010, in Ocean Springs.

Mr. Williams was born in Ocean Springs, MS., and remained a lifelong resident. He was a veteran of the US Navy and the US Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding as a maintenance pipefitter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ophelia Williams, Sr., and three brothers, Albert Williams, Robert Williams and Everett Williams.

Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Faye Parker Williams, two daughters, Carol (Mark) Petitjean and Sherri James, a son, Joey Williams, a sister, Alverta Sharp and eight grandchildren.

On Saturday, June 5, 2010, there was a 10 am graveside service at Crestlawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Ruth Newport Carlisle, age 102, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Saturday, June 5, 2010, in Ocean Springs.

She was born in Shawnee, OK., was a longtime resident of Zachary, LA. and a coast resident for fifteen years. Mrs. Carlisle, along with her husband, Reverend Robert Lee Carlisle, Jr., was a retired Southern Baptist Missionary, serving in Montevideo, Uruguay, for thirty years. She was a former school teacher, and along with her husband, founded what is now Uruguayan Baptist Theological Seminary. She was a graduate of Howard Payne College in Brownswood, TX. and Central College in Conway, AR. Mrs. Carlisle was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ocean Springs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Robert Lee Carlisle, Jr., parents, Walter and Nell Mitchell Newport, and two brothers, Guy Newport and Walter Newport.

Survivors include four daughters, Betty R. Carlisle, MD, Jean R. Carlisle, Nelly Jo Carlisle (Bill) VanAuken, and Edwina L. (Larry) Cummings, four sons, Robert N. (Carol) Carlisle, David L. (Wendy) Carlisle MD, Arthur D. (Jennifer) Carlisle, and Jason D. (Susan) Carlisle, fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchldren.

Visitation was on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, from 5 pm ~ 7 pm at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Wednesday, June 9, 2010, there will be a 10 am chapel service in the funeral home. Burial will follow at 3 pm in Wesson Cemetery in Wesson, MS.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to the Ruth Carlisle Missionary Fund, at the First Baptist Church, Ocean Springs, 602 Washington Avenue, Ocean Springs, MS. 39564.

Mrs. Denise Margaret Benezue Byrd was born on October 28, 1924, to Raphael and Etta Benezue and married Hesey Karl Byrd on January 10, 1947. She went home to be with her Savior on May 31, 2010.

Mrs. Byrd was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Donald Benezue and one grandchild, Jason Stahl.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, H.K. Byrd, two siblings, Vida Risk and Lynn Benezue, eight children, Susan (George) Beatty, Karla (Dale) Stahl, Daniel (Christine) Byrd, Raphael Byrd, Janice (Bob) Ferro, Doyle (Veronica) Byrd, John (Kimberly) Byrd and Terry (Kathleen) Byrd, ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs Byrd was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Visitation was on Thursday, June 3, 2010, from 10 am ~ 12 Noon, with a 12 Noon church service, all at the Belle Fountain Baptist Church. Brother Larry Darden officiated the service. Burial followed in Crestlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to the Gulf Coast Hospice, 4107 Popps Ferry Rd., Biloxi, MS. 39540.

Harold J. Senseney, age 89, of Gautier, MS died Thursday, June 3, 2010 in Gautier, MS.

Mr. Senseney was a native of Biloxi and a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast. He retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding after twenty-six years of service as a pipefitter.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Gail Haines; sister, Mable Ross and parents, Frank and Mable Ryan Senseney.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-three years, Yvonne Louise Senseney of Ocean Springs; daughters, Janice (Richard) Camp, Cheryl Bosarge and Susan Senseney all of Ocean Springs; sons, Dennis (Vickie) Senseney of Ocean Springs and J.B. (Brenda) Senseney of Gautier; brothers, Robert "Jimmy" Senseney and Charles "Charlie Senseney both of Texas; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Service was on Monday, June 7, 2010 at Belle Fountain Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. where friends visited one hour prior to service. Burial was in Bell Fountain Baptist Church Cemetery.
