OSHS Swim Team Topples Hancock High in Season Opener

The Ocean Springs High School Swim Team kicked off their 2011-2012 season with a bang on Wednesday, August 17 with a solid victory against Hancock High School. Competing at the OS YMCA, the Lady Greyhounds dominated with 125 points against 31 points for Hancock Girls, while the OSHS Boys accumulated 93 points against 56 for Hancock. High point scorers for the ladies included: Shelbi Allen and Ashleigh Moore with two 1st place wins each, Makayla Farris, Matty Lepre, Pieper Niolon, and Patty Sloan with one 1st place each. First place relay team wins for the girls included: Shelbi Allen, Rachel Chai, Makayla Farris, and Shelbi Ramirez in the 200 Yard Medley; Patty Sloan, Lindsey Wilson, Ashleigh Moore, and Savannah Whitehead in the 200 Yard Freestyle; and Shelbi Allen, Shelbi Ramirez, Rachel Chai, and Ashleigh Moore in the 400 yard Freestyle. High points for the boys included Sean Chai with two 1st place finishes, Joseph Giametta, Parker Langevin, and Joey Pocreva with one 1st place each. First place relay teams for the boys included: Parker Langevin, Sean Chai, Joey Pocreva, and Piyush Borse in the 200 Yard Medley; Joey Pocreva, Alston Smith, Joseph Giametta, and Sean Chai in the 400 Yard Freestyle. The team is coached by Rosie Zeigler.
