The 2011 Labor Day DUI awareness, education, and enforcement campaign labeled “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”, and law enforcement across Mississippi will be on the lookout for drunk and impaired drivers this weekend.

As we approach the Labor Day holiday weekend, or the traditional or unofficial end of the summer season, more traffic is expected as people head out. For those who are planning on consuming alcohol, please plan your activities safely by designating a safe and sober driver in advance.

“We will be out on the water, on the county roads and highways, we will be out in full force this weekend.” Sheriff Mike Byrd reported to the Gazette.

A DUI is a preventable crime and can easily be avoided by drivers making sound and wise decisions to never drive or operate a boat after consuming alcohol.

The 2011 Labor Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign started on August 19th, and will continue through September 5th.
